Photos that sell on Vinted: the simple method (no pro gear)

11 August 2026 · 5 min read

On Vinted, the photo decides in half a second: the buyer scrolls, your first image hooks them or vanishes. No need for pro gear — a consistent method beats a good camera. Here it is.

1. The first photo does 90% of the work

It is the only one visible in the search feed. Simple rules: the whole item, flat lay or worn, neutral background, daylight, no accessory stealing the show. Detail shots, labels and flaws come after — never first.

2. Light above everything

Indirect natural light (near a window, never in direct sun) keeps colours true and avoids hard shadows. Flash flattens fabrics and distorts tones — a garment whose real colour surprises the buyer is a potential dispute.

3. One background, forever

Pick one background (light wall, plain sheet, wooden board) and keep it for your entire wardrobe. Uniformity creates a shop-like effect that reassures, helps buyers browse your profile — and saves you time: no decision to make at every shoot.

The €0 setup: a white wall, the window at 45°, your phone in portrait mode, and a fixed hanger. Reproducible in 30 seconds per item.

4. The standard 6-photo series

  • 1. Full front view (the feed photo)
  • 2. Full back view
  • 3. Fabric or pattern detail
  • 4. Brand + size label
  • 5. Composition label
  • 6. Any flaws, in honest close-up

Photographing flaws is not self-sabotage: it prevents returns. A forewarned buyer does not dispute.

5. Treat the shoot like a production line

The real gain is not artistic, it is industrial: shoot in batches of 20-30 items, same light, same background, then list in a row. Sellers who publish 10 items a day do not take prettier photos — they have a process. And tracking: knowing which pieces await their photos, which are listed, which are sleeping, is exactly what a stock management tool is for.
