A Vinted sale is only finished when the money is available — and between shipping and that moment, four situations make every seller sweat. Here is how each one actually plays out, and what you can (and can't) do.
1. The buyer doesn't tap "Everything is OK"
Until the buyer confirms receipt, your payment stays on hold. The good news: it isn't unlimited — with no action from them, Vinted auto-completes 2 days after the carrier confirms delivery. Don't send pushy messages: it speeds up nothing and sours the relationship. If tracking has said "delivered" for more than 2 days and nothing moves, contact Vinted support with the tracking number.
2. The parcel sleeps at the pick-up point
The silent trap: an uncollected parcel is returned to sender after the holding period — roughly 7 to 10 days depending on the carrier. Result: sale cancelled, buyer refunded, and you get the item back (in the best case). A friendly message on day 5 ("your parcel is waiting at the pick-up point until…") saves one sale in two in this situation.
3. The parcel is lost
If tracking stops moving for more than 7 days, report it from the sale's conversation ("I have an issue"). With a Vinted label, the shipment is covered: Vinted refunds the buyer and compensates you based on the item's value. This is exactly why you should never ship outside the Vinted label, even if the buyer suggests it.
4. The return request
Two very different cases. "I don't like the item": between individuals you don't have to accept (no withdrawal right) — but accepting, with return costs on the buyer, often avoids a disguised "item not as described" dispute. "The item doesn't match the description": there, Vinted decides on the evidence. Your best defence happens before the sale: photos showing flaws, flat measurements, the size label. A lost dispute = refund + sometimes no item back.
