Forget what listings are priced at — what do clothes actually sell for on Vinted UK? We classified close to a million real UK sales observed in a single month. Here is the honest picture, in pounds.
The volume king: dresses
Dresses are the single most-sold type on Vinted UK — 8.7% of all sales, far ahead of anything else (for comparison, the French market is jeans-first). Median price: £6. If you sell womenswear, dresses are your bread and butter: they move fast, but they move cheap.
Where the value hides
The interesting story is in the gap between the median and the top end:
- Trainers: £13.99 median — the highest-priced volume category, and the top 10% clear £45+.
- Boots: £13 median, top 10% above £51 — and autumn is exactly their season.
- Jackets: £10 median, but the top 10% sell above £45. This is the widest spread in the wardrobe: a good branded jacket is worth four ordinary ones.
- Coats: £10 median, top decile £44 — same logic, and demand climbs through October.
- Bags: £9 median, top decile £45 — the classic gift category as December approaches.
The workhorses
Jeans (£7), jumpers and hoodies (£5), shirts (£5), t-shirts (£5): reliable volume, modest prices. They pay the bills when you sell in bundles or at scale — but they won't build a margin on their own.
Autumn timing
These numbers come from late summer — and boots, coats and jackets are precisely the categories whose demand accelerates from September onwards. Listing them now means catching the rise, not chasing it.
