Wondering what to sell on Vinted in October? The short answer: anything that keeps people warm, listed now — plus the first festive pieces, listed before everyone else. October isn't the start of winter season on Vinted, it's the heart of it.
A word of honesty about our figures: our latest market measurements stop in mid-September. The data quoted here describes the autumn shift we observed this summer on the French market; the rest of the article extends that trend, without pretending to an "October" figure we don't have.
What to sell on Vinted in October: warm pieces
The shift showed up early: by late July, the share of coats, puffers and parkas in sales had almost doubled (+96% between June and late July). In August, across more than 3 million real sales observed in France, the trend held from one fortnight to the next:
| Item type | Change in share of sales (August) | Median price observed |
|---|---|---|
| Boots, ankle boots | +41% | ~€11 |
| Coats, parkas, puffers | +21% | €10 (good pieces often go above €25-40) |
| Jumpers, sweatshirts, cardigans | +12% | €5 |
| Trainers | +9% | €15 |
So, what to sell on Vinted right now? Coats and puffers, boots, wool jumpers, scarves, hats and gloves, and warm kidswear — jackets, snowsuits, jumpers — which parents buy again every time a child goes up a size. Any warm piece still sitting in a box belongs online this week.
List now what will sell later
The rule from our September article still applies: list 3-4 weeks before the actual need, so the listing has time to gather favourites. In October, that gives you two dates:
- Early October — Halloween. Costumes, accessories, black or orange outfits: the 31st comes round fast, and a listing posted in the last week often arrives too late for a parcel delivered in time.
- Late October — the festive season. Christmas jumpers, party and New Year's Eve outfits, toys and gift ideas in good condition: listed in late October, they're online when buyers start their lists in November.
For what comes next — Black Friday, Christmas, January — see our article on preparing for the fourth quarter on Vinted.
What to stop pushing (and what to do with it)
Back in August, swimwear and shorts were already losing 14% of their share of sales, light dresses 8%. In October, don't waste effort relaunching summer listings. Three options:
- Store the good summer pieces: they'll sell better in spring than sold off today.
- Bundle the low-price items (t-shirts, vest tops): a coherent bundle by size sells where ten listings at a few euros sit idle.
- Cut the price only on what isn't worth keeping in a box all winter — and decide once, rather than nibbling at the price every week.
To decide, look at how long each item has been online: see our guide to stock rotation.
Where to find winter stock
The usual sources work well in autumn: car boot sales, charity shops, people clearing out their wardrobes at the change of season. If you're a professional consignment seller based in France, there's another route: on jeconfiemesvetements.fr, a French consignment directory from the publisher of Fripilot that only lists sellers based in France, members of the public describe the bundle they want to hand over (brands, volume, condition, photos) and their request is passed to a professional seller. You receive stock without buying it up front; it's free on both sides, the site takes no commission, and you sell and pay the depositor their share.
This week's method, in four steps
- Get the dormant warm pieces out of your boxes and list them first.
- List Halloween now, not in the week of the 31st.
- Prepare the festive season: photograph Christmas jumpers, outfits and toys now. To write up all that winter stock quickly, our sister app FriShot, from the publisher of Fripilot, prepares the listing from 3 photos: title, description, hashtags and suggested price. On a computer, its extension fills in the Vinted draft; you still click "Sell" yourself.
- Check your own figures: what actually sold in your shop at this time last year, and at what margin? That's the best compass.
Fripilot shows you those figures from your Vinted shop — sales by type, dormant stock, real margins — via a read-only extension that never posts or changes anything on your account. Free 30-day trial, no card required.
