Anyone can sell an item on Vinted. Selling well — quickly, at the right price, without disputes, and knowing what you actually keep at the end — takes a method. Here's the one we use in our own shops, in nine rules, from choosing the item to the monthly review.
1. List what buyers are looking for right now
A good listing out of season just sleeps. List a few weeks before the season (coats from autumn, swimwear before summer) and put the rest aside rather than slashing prices. The seasonal selling calendar and what to sell in October set the pace; for sizes, see which sizes sell.
2. Get the first photo right before anything else
In the feed, buyers only see a thumbnail. The whole garment, ironed, in daylight, on a plain background: that's what wins the click. Then add the label, the fabric, the details and every flaw up close (see photos that sell).
3. A title and fields that match what people search
The title starts with the item type and the brand, then colour, material and size, in the buyer's words. And every field counts: many buyers filter by category, size, brand or condition. A brand picked from the list rather than typed by hand, the most precise category, an honest condition — otherwise the listing drops out of the filters.
4. A description that answers questions before they're asked
Fabric, fit, flat measurements, flaws named and shown in a photo. Every question avoided is a faster sale; every flaw disclosed is one dispute less. Our sister app FriShot writes the title, description and Vinted hashtags from your photos.
5. A price based on what has sold, not on what's listed
Listings still online are often… the ones that don't sell. Compare with similar items that have already sold, adjust for condition (condition and price) and leave a little room to negotiate: on Vinted, offers are part of the game.
6. Reply fast, and turn offers into sales
A buyer asking a question is often comparing. Replying within the hour rather than the next day often makes the difference. Faced with a low offer, counter rather than refuse, and think bundles: a second item added to the basket beats a flat discount (see selling bundles).
7. Ship fast and well: that's where reviews are won
A parcel sent quickly, clean and protected from the rain reassures the buyer and earns you good reviews, which sell your next listings. And if a dispute comes up anyway, the method is in the seller's guide to disputes.
8. Know your real margin, not just your turnover
The amount Vinted pays out isn't profit. Purchase price, packaging, boosts, travel: until they're deducted, there's no telling which items are worth it. The step-by-step calculation is in calculating your Vinted margin, and boosting your listings helps you judge an often underestimated cost.
9. Track your stock to know what to relaunch
Selling well also means knowing what isn't selling. A listing that has been sitting for weeks deserves a new cover photo, a reworked title or an adjusted price — provided you spot it (see stock turnover).
The method in short
- In season, in sizes that sell;
- A first photo that makes people click;
- Title and fields filled in with the buyer's words;
- Measurements and flaws in the description;
- Price compared with items already sold;
- Quick replies, counter-offers and bundles;
- Fast, careful shipping;
- Real margin known, dormant stock spotted.
